Are you a parent? Are you looking for easy to use resources for working on your child’s reading development? If so, there is good news. FamilyEducation.com has partnered with The National Center for Learning Disabilities to bring parents a new version of Get Ready To Read.
Get Ready To Read is an interactive tool aimed at parents and their 4 year old children. It is useful for showing whether the child’s pre-reading skills are weak, strong, or somewhere in between. FamilyEducation.com recommends that the tool first be used during the Fall in the year before your child is to enter kindergarten. This can allow plenty of time for follow-up uses of the tool if you feel your child could use some improvement before entering kindergarten.
The tool offers very easy to follow instructions, is 20 questions long, and provides recomendations based on the results at the end. There are also links to free learning tools that you can print and use to work on developing your child’s reading skills.

I went through it myself, and found it extremely easy to follow. There is nothing to install, as it works entirely in your web browser. The picture above is a sample of one of the 20 questions. Head on over and try it out yourself.
