The Nintendo Wii was the leading console in terms of sales for the fourth month in a row. The Wii managed to sell 360,000 units in April, which was more than double the 174,000 units of the XBox 360 and more that quadruple the 82,000 units of the PS3.
In terms of falling sales since January, the Wii comes out on top again. The Wii has dropped 17%, with the XBox 360 falling 41% and the PS3 67%.
The user base of the three next-gen systems also make the story bleak for Sony with its PS3. The XBox 360 has 59%, with the Wii at 27% while the PS3 falls in again in last with 14%. Given the plummeting sales of the PS3, things are looking bleak for Sony in the console wars. Microsoft coming to market far earlier than Sony, while both the Wii and XBox 360 offer more compelling games further make the outlook for Sony grim indeed. Maybe Sony can manage to pull something out of their sleeve.
