Lite-On is turning up the heat in the realm of DVD burning speeds. Their latest drive announced, the LH-20A1P is reported to be capable of burning an entire DVD in around 5 minutes. That is 20x for those keeping track. The LH-20A1P is compatible with all forms of DVD and CD burnable media, offers the smart burn technology to reduce burning problems. It is expected to be available next month. I have found no information on pricing.
Of interest, for some reason this blog seems to be speculating that the news about this release may be fake. I have no idea why they may feel this way.
