Firefox users keep more up to date concerning security updates than users of other browsers according to a recent survey done by Securnia. The numbers were rather interesting, and covered applications which did not have the latest security updates. Concerning web browsers, Firefox 2 users came in with a respectable 5.19% missing the latest security updates contrasted with 11.96% of Opera 9 users. Internet Explorer users were split between IE6 and IE7 with 9.61% and 5.4% respectively.

These figures were not too bad, considering that the study looked at many types of applications, and found a 28% figure over all. Interestingly enough, it was media players coming in with quite bad numbers. WinAMP 5 came in at 26.96% with Quicktime 7 trailing at 33,14% of installations being outdated.
