Creative Zen Wav

Creative has released official information on the Zen Wav media player. One interesting feature of the Zen Wav is the built-in stereo speakers. This is rather unusual for media players, and can come in hand while traveling as the unit also features an alarm. Other features include a 5 band equalizer with 8 presets, 2GB capacity, FM radio with 32 station memory, e-book reader, and a 1.5 inch 65k TFT color display. It also has a microphone built-in so you can record your own voice messages. You can store and display jpg images. It supports Mp3, WMA, and of course WAV files for audio. Video can be displayed in the format of transcoded AVI. It also comes with a draw-string pouch to help keep it blemish free while being stored in a pocket or back pack. The dock also acts as a passive sound enhancer when compared to open air use.

Another feature worthy of special note, is the built in volume limiter. This can be set by parents to help protect the hearing of children for example. This is a feature that could broaden its appeal.

Battery life is up to a respectable 30 hours using the headphone jack, and up to 20 hours using the built-in speakers.
